Day 4: The "Midwives" of Your Story
"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave nor forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6
My sophomore year of college, I had a dream that I was pregnant (spiritually). As the dream progressed, I realized that it was MY time to deliver this "baby." I was surrounded by a bunch of women that I did not know, all of which telling me things likes:
"It's time!"
"Push!"
"Don't give up!"
"Deliver this 'baby' Raven!"
So without hesitation, I began to push. I pushed and pushed and pushed.....but to no avail. I then began to look around; quickly noticing that everyone else was "birthing" something! Discouraged, I said to the Lord, "Why is everyone else's "baby" manifesting. Where is my "baby," Lord?" He then said to me, "Daughter, speak over your own womb." Sister, there are so many key points about this dream that I know God was showing me, and one day I will most definitely write a post about it. But today, the Lord brought this dream to my mind to remind me of the women that I did not know at the time (some of which I still don't know) who were encouraging me along the way.
Before we dig into scripture today, take some time to pray.
Please read Esther 2:5-7
We've just been introduced to not only the leading lady herself.....Hadassah (Esther), but also to some of the major characters in her "story." Esther was beautiful. She had a lovely figure and probably had a whole lot of other things going for her as well, but there was something missing.
What was it?
Parents.
Scripture does not tell us what age Esther was when both her parents died, but based off of what we're given, she was probably very young being that her cousin, Mordecai, decided to raise her as his daughter.
In this journey of life, as a queen with a purpose, at times it will seem as though you don't have what you need. No, it may not come in the form of parents like Esther, but you may feel as though you don't have the people, the support, the encouragers, the mentors, etc. The enemy will try to make you feel as though you are all alone in the race that God has called you to run. But sis., be encouraged! As we can see with Esther and countless others in the Word......a queen with a purpose is never alone.
Just like God knew not only who Esther was called to be, what she would do, but also who she would need to "birth" that which was on the inside of her, He knows about you too.
Please read Psalms 31:14-15 and Deuteronomy 31:6
Sister, your times are in His hand. He is ALWAYS mindful of you. He knows the way that you take. He knows what you have need of, what you desire AND who you need in order to walk in your God ordained destiny. He has gone before you and made the crooked paths straight. He has never nor will He ever leave or forsake or abandon or fail you. Sister, just like Esther, you are called for such a time as this. You are carrying something that this world needs. Do not abort your assignment sister. Be strong and very courageous!
As stated, Esther, had no parents.
In the natural, that could mean no support, no guidance, no security, no love, etc.
But again, God knew who she would need on her journey. Funny thing is, to those of us reading, we couldn't imagine being raised by some of our cousins. But as we continue to read, her cousin, Mordecai, was more than just a father figure, he served as a midwife in her life.
God has a way of using people in our lives to help us birth our "babies," but often times we look at the package of that person, and completely miss out on the gift that they have been anointed to be in our lives because they didn't come wrapped like we thought. What do I mean? I'm sure the pressure of raising his own cousin was huge. Not just any cousin, but a girl.
Sister, oftentimes we overlook and disregard our God sent "midwives" because they haven't experienced what we have experienced, or their not much older than us. My point is that, there are people assigned to you to help and encourage you to push that "baby" out and be who God has called you to be and likewise, there are people that you are assigned to, to do the same. It's not about experience, per se, it's about wisdom, anointing, and God-connections. Sometimes your God ordained, anointed mid wife could be your mom, or friend, or just a sister in the Lord or a mother at your church. Just because someone hasn't had the same experiences as you doesn't mean that God can't or hasn't given them wisdom that could help you along the way.
Please Read Esther 2:8-9
We've just met another key person....Hegai. Some midwives will be like Mordecai to you. They will be people that you've known "forever." They've watched you grow up and mature into the young lady that God has called you to be. Then there will be some like Hegai in your life. Those that come for just a season or right when it's time for you to deliver. As we said in our Day 3 study, it wasn't beauty that propelled Esther into destiny....because all of the women that came to the palace were beautiful. It was the hand of God on her life and the favor of the Lord that opened the door for her to be the Queen that she was called to be.
Sister, I know that today's study was kind of short, but as we progress you will see just how much Mordecai and Hegai served as spiritual midwives in Esther's life. As we close, take some time to seek God about the people in your life and the role they have played or are playing in your story. And also begin to pray for those that you have yet to meet that God has anointed and appointed to serve as midwives to you. Queen with a purpose, you are not in this thing alone. Not only is the King of Kings on your side, but He has people either in your life now or coming that are rooting for you too. You will birth that which is on the inside of you! You were very much so called for such a time as this.
See you Monday! Love you!
